You know the feeling: something breaks, you search online for a replacement, and you find out the part hasn't been manufactured in five years. Or it's available, but the minimum order is 50 units at $40 each. Or shipping is two weeks from an overseas warehouse and the item costs more than the machine it goes in.
This is a problem 3D printing was made to solve.
We Recreate Parts That Don't Exist Anymore
At Create Custom Parts Co. in Savannah, TN, one of the most common jobs we get is a customer walking in (or texting us a photo) of a broken plastic component and asking if we can make a new one.
The answer is almost always yes.
We've recreated:
- Appliance knobs and dials — the plastic tabs that snap off with normal use
- Equipment housings and covers — older machines with cracked or missing plastic shields
- Drawer pulls and cabinet hardware — discontinued styles that don't match anything in a hardware store
- Automotive interior trim — clips, covers, and bezels from older vehicles
- Tool and machinery parts — guides, stops, fences, and fixtures from discontinued models
- Electronic enclosures — replacement covers for control panels and device housings
How We Recreate a Broken Part
You don't need to have the original CAD file or technical drawing. Here's what we work from:
1. The broken piece itselfIf you have the broken part, that's usually enough. We measure it, model it in 3D software, and print it. Cracks, chips, and missing sections aren't a problem — we work from what's intact.
2. A photo with measurementsText us a few photos with the key dimensions marked (or just the dimensions in a message). For simple parts, that's enough to quote and build.
3. A reference part from something similarSometimes a part that fits one brand fits another with a small modification. If you know of something close, let us know.
4. Your own 3D fileHave a file from an online parts database or CAD software? We'll print it directly.
Matching the Right Material to the Job
Replacement parts need to perform like the original — or better. We choose material based on what the part does:
| Use Case | Recommended Material |
|---|---|
| General indoor parts | PLA or ABS |
| Outdoor / UV exposure | ASA |
| Flexible / snap-fit | TPU |
| Chemical exposure | PETG |
| High strength / load-bearing | Nylon |
If you're not sure, just describe what the part does and where it lives — we'll make the call.
Pricing and Turnaround
Most simple replacement parts cost between $5–$30 to print, depending on size and material. Complex parts may be more. We give you a quote before we start — no surprises.
Turnaround is typically 1–5 business days. Rush requests are often possible — ask when you contact us.
